Vijay Kicks Off Final Campaign Sprint for Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections

Actor-turned-politician Vijay on Saturday launched the "final sprint" of his party's campaign for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, calling on workers of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) to transform momentum into a "victorious procession." In a post on X, he addressed supporters as "comrades who reside in my heart" and emphasized that the next ten days would be critical for their electoral success.

Push for Grassroots Outreach and Door-to-Door Campaigning

Vijay urged booth-level convenors and volunteers to undertake a disciplined, large-scale door-to-door campaign across the state. He directed workers to dedicate time every morning and evening to meet voters personally and appeal for support, asking them to seek votes for TVK candidates on the "Whistle" symbol. He stressed that such direct engagement would be key to strengthening the party's presence ahead of polling, stating, "Over the next ten days... go from house to house... meet the people of Tamil Nadu face to face every day."

Framing the Election as a Generational Change

Framing the polls as more than a routine political contest, Vijay described it as a "grand change for a generation" and a fight to establish "true people's rule." He called on state and district-level leaders to work in close coordination with candidates, urging them to "embrace everyone" and carry out campaign efforts with "selfless camaraderie." He asserted, "This election is not just for us, but for a grand change... dedicate selfless effort and add strength to our victorious journey."

Confidence in Victory Amid Three-Way Contest

Expressing confidence in victory, Vijay said Tamil Nadu would unite as a "victorious procession" and declared that "only good will happen." The April 23 elections are expected to witness a three-way contest between the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance, the NDA led by the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam along with the Bharatiya Janata Party, and Vijay's TVK, marking his electoral debut. Counting of votes is scheduled for May 4, with Vijay's campaign focusing on grassroots mobilization and personal voter engagement in the final stretch.
