TVK President Vijay Announces Sweeping Youth-Focused Election Promises in Chennai
In a significant campaign move, TVK president Vijay unveiled a comprehensive set of poll promises specifically targeting the youth demographic during a rally in Chennai on Sunday. This marks his second major policy announcement, following an earlier focus on women voters on March 7.
Financial Support for Education and Unemployment
Vijay pledged to provide collateral-free education loans of up to ₹20 lakh for students ranging from Class XII to PhD levels. This initiative aims to ensure that no student misses educational opportunities due to financial constraints. The announcement came after TVK declared candidates for all 234 constituencies in Tamil Nadu.
Addressing unemployment concerns, Vijay promised monthly financial assistance for graduates and diploma holders who remain jobless. "Graduates who are unable to secure employment by age 29 will receive ₹4,000 per month, while diploma holders will get ₹2,500 monthly until they find jobs," he stated during his address.
Job Creation and Government Recruitment Reforms
The TVK leader proposed creating five lakh new positions through a 'CM's Public Service Friends' program. These positions would be established in every panchayat and urban local body, with individuals earning ₹18,000 monthly while delivering 100% government services directly to citizens' doorsteps.
To address long-standing concerns about government hiring processes, Vijay committed to enacting the 'Tamil Nadu Recruitment Accountability and Transparency Act.' This legislation would aim to eliminate irregularities and ensure fair practices in public sector recruitment.
Private Sector Initiatives and Entrepreneurship Support
For the private sector, Vijay introduced a novel 'Tamil Employment Credit System' that would offer incentives to companies maintaining at least 75% of their workforce from Tamil Nadu. This measure seeks to safeguard employment opportunities for local residents.
The TVK president also announced substantial support for entrepreneurs and digital creators. His proposals include:
- ₹25 lakh collateral-free loans for aspiring entrepreneurs
- Seed funding for 1.5 lakh 'creatorpreneurs' – digital content creators who showcase Tamil Nadu's culture globally
Political Context and Future Announcements
Positioning the upcoming election as a direct contest, Vijay reiterated that the battle is essentially between TVK and DMK – specifically between himself and current Chief Minister M.K. Stalin. He framed this as a two-cornered fight for Tamil Nadu's political future.
Vijay indicated that more policy announcements are forthcoming, with future promises targeting farmers, fishermen, teachers, weavers, and other key demographic groups. This strategic rollout suggests a comprehensive election manifesto designed to address diverse voter concerns across Tamil Nadu.
The youth-focused promises represent a calculated political move to engage younger voters who constitute a significant portion of Tamil Nadu's electorate. By addressing education financing, unemployment, job creation, and entrepreneurship, Vijay aims to position TVK as the party most responsive to the aspirations and challenges facing Tamil Nadu's younger generation.
