Viral Video Exposes Autorickshaw Driver High-Handedness in Dombivli, Ignites Public Fury

A video posted by Dombivli resident Darshan Parab has once again brought to light the alleged high-handedness of autorickshaw drivers in the Kalyan-Dombivli region. The footage, which has rapidly gone viral across social media platforms, shows Parab, who is carrying his young child, narrating his frustrating experience. He explains that he and his wife, who is holding luggage, have been unable to secure an autorickshaw outside Dombivli railway station for over 30 minutes. Shockingly, multiple drivers, even with their vehicles visibly vacant, are refusing to accept the short-distance fare.

Widespread Commuter Anguish and Political Intervention

In the video, an unidentified man standing beside Parab is heard corroborating the ordeal, stating he too has been waiting for an autorickshaw for at least 45 minutes. This incident has triggered a wave of public outrage, with numerous citizens echoing similar distressing experiences in the comments. There is a growing demand for the Regional Transport Office (RTO) to take immediate and stringent action against these errant auto drivers.

Former MLA Pramod (Raju) Patil from the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) swiftly took to social media to criticize the deteriorating state of transport services in Kalyan-Dombivli. Tagging State Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik, Patil issued a strong appeal for strict measures against the irresponsible drivers.

Appeal to Minister's Personal Experience and Systemic Issues

In his detailed post, Patil pointedly noted that Minister Sarnaik himself had once worked as an autorickshaw driver, expressing hope that this personal history would foster a deeper understanding of the commuters' daily plight. Patil further alleged that the transport system in the area has significantly worsened. He claimed that the influence of certain factions within local rickshaw unions has led to increasing indiscipline and refusal behavior among drivers, creating a hostile environment for passengers.

Patil demanded that the minister personally visit the region to conduct a ground review of the chaotic situation. He urged for concrete steps to ensure strict action against those responsible, emphasizing that this persistent issue causes severe and regular inconvenience to thousands of daily commuters who rely on autorickshaws for their transportation needs.
