Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh Warring launched a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) over the dearness allowance (DA) row, accusing it of hypocrisy and betrayal of employees' interests. Warring alleged that the AAP government in Punjab had backtracked on its promise to restore DA, which was pending for years.
Warring's Accusations
Speaking to the media, Warring said that the AAP had made tall claims before the elections but was now failing to fulfill its commitments. He highlighted that the previous Congress government had cleared DA dues, but the AAP government was now creating hurdles. Warring accused Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann of misleading the people and acting against the interests of state employees.
Hypocrisy Exposed
Warring further stated that the AAP's stance on DA exposed its hypocrisy. He pointed out that while the party criticized others for not paying DA, it was now doing the same. He demanded that the government immediately release the pending DA and stop playing politics with employees' livelihoods.
The Congress leader also raised concerns over the financial management of the state, alleging that the AAP government was misusing funds and failing to generate revenue. He called for a transparent audit of the state's finances.
Warring's remarks come amidst a growing row over DA, with employee unions also protesting against the government's delay. The AAP government has defended its position, citing financial constraints, but critics argue that mismanagement is the real issue.
