A 25-year-old woman tragically took her own life following a heated argument with her husband over a video call in the Pandey Tola area under Jhagaha police station limits late Friday night. Her body was discovered hanging at her brother's residence, where she had been residing for the past several days.

The deceased, identified as a resident of Pandey Tola, was found hanging around 1:30 am. Her six-year-old daughter reportedly alerted relatives after discovering her mother's body. Police arrived at the scene promptly and sent the body for postmortem examination.

Family Allegations

The victim's family has accused her husband and in-laws of subjecting her to mental harassment, which they claim drove her to suicide. According to police, the woman was first married in 2017 to a man from Chhapia village. The couple later divorced following domestic disputes. They had a six-year-old daughter together.

Approximately two months ago, she remarried a man from Futhwa in Chauri Chaura. Her family alleged that soon after the second marriage, she faced constant harassment from her husband, mother-in-law, and sister-in-law, forcing her to return to her parental home in Jhagaha.

Police Investigation

Jhagaha Station House Officer (SHO) Anoop Singh confirmed that police are investigating the allegations of harassment and abetment to suicide. The postmortem report is awaited to ascertain the exact cause of death. Authorities are also examining call records and statements from family members.
