A tragic incident occurred late Wednesday night in Madhepura town, where a 45-year-old woman lost her life after a speeding vehicle crashed into her house. The deceased has been identified as Radha Devi, wife of Shankar Sah, a resident of ward no. 16 near the Eastern Bypass Road.
Details of the Incident
According to police reports, Radha Devi was sitting on a wooden cot in the verandah of her thatched house when a speeding four-wheeler rammed into the structure. The impact left her critically injured. Local residents rushed to the spot after hearing the loud crash and immediately transported her to Sadar Hospital. However, doctors declared her brought dead upon arrival.
Arrests and Investigation
Four individuals were traveling in the vehicle at the time of the accident. Locals managed to detain two of them, including the driver, while the other two fled the scene. Police arrived shortly thereafter and took the detained persons into custody. The vehicle involved has been seized by authorities.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Kundan Yadav (24), a resident of Godhaila village under Bharrahi police station area in Madhepura district, and Bhim Sen (32), a resident of Puri district in Odisha. Both are reportedly employed with a road construction agency.
Police suspect that the accused were under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident, which may have caused the crash. They were subsequently taken to a hospital for medical examination and treatment.
