In a significant move to bolster public safety and support trained volunteers, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath declared on Saturday that Aapda Mitras (disaster response volunteers) will be given priority in the upcoming recruitment of 41,424 home guards across the state.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized that while Aapda Mitras have been serving on a voluntary basis, their inclusion in the home guard force will ensure they receive a regular honorarium from the government. Officials clarified that candidates who have completed the Aapda Mitra training program under the Uttar Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (UPSDMA) will receive special consideration during the recruitment process. According to established guidelines:
- Certificate holders will be granted three additional marks beyond the standard scoring system
- This weightage aims to recognize their specialized training and experience
