UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath Takes Swipe at Opposition, Highlights Healthcare Expansion
In a pointed critique of previous administrations, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath declared on Saturday that his government has replaced what he described as a "one district, one mafia" policy with a "one district, one medical college" approach. The remarks, widely interpreted as a veiled attack on the Samajwadi Party, were delivered during a public address in Agra as part of his tour of Agra, Mathura, and Vrindavan.
Transforming Healthcare Infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh
"We changed the policy and decided to provide better healthcare facilities for people," Adityanath asserted. He detailed the state's progress, noting that 81 medical colleges are now operational in Uttar Pradesh, alongside two All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) campuses in Gorakhpur and Rae Bareli. The Chief Minister emphasized that access to quality healthcare is a fundamental right for every individual, and sovereign nations must ensure such facilities for their citizens.
Adityanath linked these developments to broader national achievements under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership over the past 11 years. "India has gained a new global identity," he stated, highlighting the country's emergence as the world's third-largest economy. He cited infrastructure advancements, including new highways, expressways, metro networks, railway lines, and advanced trains like the Vande Bharat Express, Amrit Bharat Express, and Namo Bharat.
Ayushman Bharat and Financial Relief for Families
The Chief Minister recalled a time when families faced severe financial distress due to serious illnesses. "Today, under Ayushman Bharat, Prime Minister Modi has provided health insurance coverage," he said. In Uttar Pradesh, 5.6 crore people have been issued golden cards, enabling them to benefit from free medical treatment under the scheme, significantly alleviating the economic burden on households.
Inauguration of Healthcare and Security Facilities
During his visit, Adityanath inaugurated the eighth unit of Yatharth Hospital in Agra, reinforcing the focus on healthcare expansion. Additionally, he opened a newly built tourist police station in Vrindavan, designed to enhance security and assistance for the millions of domestic and foreign visitors who flock to the temple town annually.

- A 24×7 help centre and reception hall for information, complaints, and basic facilities.
- Police personnel trained in multiple languages, including English and regional languages, to communicate effectively with tourists from across India and abroad.
- Integration with the safe city project and CCTV monitoring systems for enhanced security.
- A dedicated cyber cell to handle cases related to digital fraud, online scams, and social media complaints involving tourists.
- An information centre providing details about hotels, guest houses, dharamshalas, and major temples, including their timings and locations.
- Special provisions for women and differently-abled visitors, such as a dedicated women's help desk, ramps, and accessible toilets for barrier-free access.
Spiritual and Cultural Emphasis in Mathura
In Mathura, Adityanath chaired a meeting and visited the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Temple to offer prayers. Referring to the ongoing Holi celebrations in Braj, he noted that the festival is not limited to a single day but is a continuous celebration. "The massive gathering of devotees stands as a living example of India's cultural and spiritual strength," he said, adding that development programs in Braj Dham would be prioritized in the near future, similar to initiatives undertaken in Ayodhya.
