The combined value of these initiatives is approximately Rs 1,054 crore, marking a major investment in the region's growth and modernization.

Project Breakdown: Inaugurations and New Foundations

The extensive slate of projects includes the formal inauguration of 173 completed works, alongside the foundation laying for 297 new initiatives. The completed projects alone represent an investment of Rs 304.68 crore. This comprehensive effort underscores the state government's commitment to accelerating development in eastern Uttar Pradesh.

Flagship Eco Park: A Landfill Transformed

A centerpiece of the event will be the inauguration of a newly developed eco park at Ekla Bandh. This innovative project has transformed a former landfill site into a vibrant public space. Through scientific disposal processes, approximately 2.26 lakh metric tonnes of legacy waste spread over 40 acres was cleared to create the park.

Developed under the National Clean Air Programme at a cost of about Rs 5 crore, the eco park features:

  • Paved walking tracks and footpaths for visitors
  • Dedicated zones for yoga and meditation
  • A specially designed children's play area

The inauguration ceremony itself will be held at this newly created green space, symbolizing the transformation of waste into wellness.

Key Infrastructure and Road Development Projects

Substantial infrastructure upgrades form a core component of the development push. Chief Minister Adityanath will inaugurate critical road widening and strengthening projects, including:

  • The Ekla Bandh road project valued at Rs 8.35 crore
  • The route from Rajghat bridge to the carcass plant, costing Rs 7.71 crore

The 173 completed works encompass a diverse range of urban improvements:

  1. 87 road and drain projects worth Rs 95.77 crore
  2. 83 drainage works valued at Rs 129.85 crore
  3. Mayor and councillor priority works amounting to Rs 58 crore

Smart Road Initiatives and Green Development

Under the ambitious Chief Minister Green Road Infrastructure Development (CM Grid) scheme, six smart road projects will be launched. These are designed to modernize Gorakhpur's road network and include key stretches such as:

  • Ganesh Chowk to University Chowk
  • Betiyahata Chowk to Alhadadpur
  • TDM Tiraha to Pandeyhata

Additional major initiatives receiving attention include:

  • Beautification of three parks under the Upvan scheme (Rs 6.44 crore)
  • Construction of a comprehensive stormwater drainage system from Gulariha police station to Chilua Tal (Rs 123.81 crore)
  • Development of green belts and mini-forests across various city wards (Rs 35.01 crore)

Swachh School Campaign Launch

On this occasion, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will also formally launch the Swachh School Campaign under the Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0. This program aims to instill sustainable practices and behavioral change among students. Key components include:

  • Promoting effective waste management and hygiene practices
  • Encouraging water conservation efforts
  • Organizing cleanliness competitions and awareness activities
  • Implementing a star-rating system for schools based on cleanliness standards
