CM Yogi Adityanath Issues Stern Warning Ahead of Major Festivals in Uttar Pradesh

In a decisive move to ensure public safety, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has issued a firm warning against elements attempting to disrupt peace during the upcoming festival season. Chairing a comprehensive review meeting on the state's law and order situation in Lucknow, the CM asserted that "any attempt to spoil the colour of celebrations" will not be tolerated, emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy towards lawlessness.

Strict Directives for Holi, Mahashivratri, and Ramzan Celebrations

With Holi scheduled between March 2 and 4, particularly significant in the Braj region, Adityanath directed authorities to ensure that no disruptive elements infiltrate religious processions or public gatherings. "Those who attempt to spread frenzy or disturb peace must face strict action," he stated. He specifically instructed that Holika Dahan should occur only at designated traditional locations and not on roads, to prevent traffic issues and safety hazards.

For Mahashivratri, the CM ordered police and district administrations to prioritize the safety of Kanwar pilgrims and prevent untoward incidents during ‘Jalabhishek' rituals. This includes 24x7 deployment of NDRF and SDRF teams for emergencies, along with robust crowd management, traffic regulation, parking facilities, and women's safety measures. Adequate deployment of women police personnel and courteous conduct with devotees were strongly emphasized.

Enhanced Monitoring and Regulatory Measures

Adityanath also mandated continuous monitoring of social media platforms to curb rumours and inflammatory content that could incite violence. In terms of noise control, he directed that loudspeakers at religious places must not exceed permissible sound limits or extend beyond premises, with violations inviting immediate action. Additionally, the use of DJs and high-volume sound systems after 10pm at weddings and social events was strictly prohibited.

Expressing concern over rising begging activities around religious sites, the CM ordered effective measures to curb this practice and instructed authorities to formulate proper rehabilitation plans for those involved. He also highlighted the need for long-term solutions to traffic congestion, urging officials to move beyond temporary arrangements and implement practical fixes.

Focus on Communal Harmony and Future Preparations

In view of Ramzan commencing soon and Eid likely around March 21, Adityanath directed officials to maintain dialogue with religious leaders to preserve peace and harmony, ensuring no new traditions are introduced that could lead to conflicts. Preparations for Basantik Navratri starting March 19 and Ram Navami thereafter should also be completed in a timely manner, he added.

Maintaining communal harmony and public order during festivals was declared the government's top priority. The CM reminded district magistrates about the upcoming first phase of the Census and instructed full preparedness, stressing that every department must discharge its responsibility with honesty and accountability to ensure security arrangements remain vigilant.
