Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday conducted a crucial review of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) drive in the districts of Aligarh and Saharanpur. Emphasizing the importance of an accurate electoral roll ahead of the upcoming state assembly elections, the CM instructed officials to ensure that no legitimate voter is excluded while all ineligible names are removed through proper legal channels.
Focus on Booth-Level Preparation and Voter Outreach
In separate meetings with government officials and organisational members, CM Yogi laid out the clear priorities of his administration. He sought detailed status reports on the SIR drive, for which the Election Commission has set a firm deadline of December 11. Directing BJP workers and elected representatives to become more active, Yogi stressed the need to meticulously update the voters' list across every polling booth within their respective jurisdictions and constituencies.
The Chief Minister instructed party workers, senior office-bearers, ministers, and public representatives to intensify their outreach programs among the local population. The goal is to communicate that the state government and the BJP are committed to their welfare and have been working continuously to improve governance. Workers were specifically asked to connect with voters at the booth level to verify whether the benefits of various government welfare schemes are actually reaching them.
Infrastructure and Legacy Waste Issues on the Agenda
Beyond electoral preparations, CM Yogi also addressed pressing local issues. In Aligarh, he sought a detailed report on the steps taken by the district administration and the civic body over the past four months to clear the legacy waste site located on the Aligarh-Mathura highway. The Chief Minister had first identified this issue during his previous visit to Aligarh in early August.
Similarly, the review meeting focused on infrastructure development. Yogi Adityanath inquired about the progress being made on various fronts and specifically asked for a progress report on the road projects being executed under the Chief Minister's Grid Scheme. This dual focus on administrative accountability and developmental works highlights the government's pre-election strategy.
Mobilising the Party Machinery for Elections
A significant part of the review was dedicated to galvanising the party's grassroots machinery. CM Yogi explicitly asked BJP workers to begin their preparations in earnest for the upcoming assembly elections. The directive underscores the party's intent to leverage its organisational strength and connect with voters on the basis of both welfare delivery and development works, setting the stage for a highly competitive electoral battle in Uttar Pradesh.
