Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath Criticizes Opposition's Caste-Based Politics
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched a sharp critique against opposition parties on Wednesday, targeting their PDA (Pichda, Dalit, Alpsankhyak) political plank. He accused these parties of exploiting caste divisions solely for electoral gains while neglecting the very communities they claim to represent.
Launch of Bharatpur Rehabilitation Colony in Bahraich
The Chief Minister made these remarks during a significant event where he transferred Rs 15 lakh each to 118 beneficiaries and distributed land pattas to 136 families. These families are set to be rehabilitated in the upcoming Bharatpur colony in Bahraich district.
"Those who are being rehabilitated belong to diverse castes including Dalit, Yadav, Maurya, Kushwaha, and Tharu," stated Yogi Adityanath. "However, those who supposedly champion the PDA cause accomplished nothing for these people during their tenure in power. My government views citizens not through a caste lens but as members of one unified family."
He emphasized that these displaced families deserve security and access to government benefits to envision a better future and participate in developmental progress. "Those who remained preoccupied with their own kin while in authority never genuinely cared for the residents of Bharatpur," he added.
Details of the Bharatpur Rehabilitation Project
The colony has been named Bharatpur, inspired by Lord Ram's younger brother Bharat. It will be constructed in Semarhana to resettle families displaced from villages along the Saryu river due to recurring disasters and safety hazards.
Each family will receive a land patta for a 748 square foot plot along with housing under the Chief Minister Housing Scheme. The Chief Minister directed the appointment of nodal officers to ensure swift completion of all work, aiming for families to conduct housewarming ceremonies before the next Navratri festival.
The colony will be equipped with comprehensive facilities including:
- Ration shops
- Schools and anganwadi centers
- Reliable electricity and water supply
- Parks and well-constructed roads
- LED street lighting
Infrastructure Development and Broader Governance Vision
Yogi Adityanath also announced substantial infrastructure upgrades, revealing that the road connecting Bahraich to Barabanki and Lucknow will be expanded into a four-lane highway. This enhancement is expected to reduce travel time to approximately 45 minutes to one hour.
He highlighted that several forest villages have already been converted into revenue villages, with the remainder slated for rapid development. The Chief Minister questioned opposition parties about their focus on PDA while overlooking families living in dire conditions.
"Dividing society along caste lines has inflicted considerable damage on our nation," he asserted. "In contrast, initiatives like Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Ek Bharat-Shreshtha Bharat have fostered national unity. Our administration works transcending caste, creed, and religion for the welfare of 25 crore citizens."
Governance Philosophy and Achievements
The Chief Minister elaborated on his governance approach, stating, "When service and compassion become integral to governance, the underprivileged readily access benefits such as housing, toilets, Ayushman cards, and various welfare schemes."
He contrasted this with previous administrations, noting that his government has prioritized public welfare, infrastructure development, employment generation, disaster prevention, and consistent electricity supply.
"Earlier governments neglected pressing issues to maintain societal divisions," Yogi Adityanath explained. "Our current administration is dedicated to resolving problems, particularly during calamities. Our objective is to uplift the most marginalized individuals in society and foster self-reliance among rehabilitated families."
Reflecting on the state's transformation, he remarked, "Prior to 2017, Uttar Pradesh grappled with lawlessness and communal riots. Today, the state enjoys a celebratory atmosphere during festivals. Occasions like Ram Navami are now observed with unprecedented grandeur and harmony."
