Vadodara: Demonstrating extraordinary grit and resilience, a 54-year-old shooter from Vadodara has made a significant mark on the national stage by winning a gold medal at the 24th Kumar Surendra Singh Memorial Shooting Championship held in New Delhi.
A Remarkable Achievement
Richa Bhatnagar clinched the top position in the 25-metre sports pistol (master women) category, becoming the only participant from Gujarat to win gold at the tournament. Her victory is a testament to her dedication and perseverance.

This marked a turning point in her shooting career, showcasing her unwavering determination.
From Hobby to Passion
An entrepreneur by profession, Bhatnagar took up shooting as a hobby at the age of 50. Over time, she developed a deep passion for the sport. Since then, she has won over 23 medals at national and state-level competitions, proving that age is no barrier to achieving greatness.
Reflecting on her victory, Bhatnagar said, "Winning a gold medal is always special. Shooting keeps you focused and calm. It has brought a lot of positivity into my life."
Inspiring Others
Encouraging others to pursue their interests, she added, "It's never too late to follow your passion. I picked up shooting at 50 and have gone on to achieve so much." Her story serves as an inspiration for individuals of all ages to chase their dreams, regardless of obstacles.
Bhatnagar's achievement highlights the potential of senior athletes in India and underscores the importance of mental strength and focus in competitive sports.
