Rajasthan CM Orders Long-Term Udaipur Development Plan

Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Wednesday directed officials to prepare a comprehensive long-term development blueprint for Udaipur, aligning with future population growth and urban requirements. The focus areas include road improvement, traffic management, drinking water supply, and civic infrastructure.

Special Development Plan for Peripheral Zone

Chairing a meeting at the Zila Parishad auditorium in Udaipur, Sharma instructed the Udaipur Development Authority (UDA) and the Udaipur Municipal Corporation (UMC) to create a special development plan covering a 25–30 km peripheral zone around the city. This plan must consider future expansion and tourism potential.

Focus on Tourism and Infrastructure

Calling Udaipur Rajasthan's "most prominent tourist city," Sharma emphasized that infrastructure must be planned to accommodate the growing inflow of tourists from across India and abroad. "The development blueprint for Udaipur should be prepared keeping future needs and population growth in mind. Road improvement, traffic management, and civic facilities must be planned in a detailed and systematic manner," he said.

Dewas Project for Water Security

Sharma highlighted the importance of the Dewas Project, describing it as critical for the city's future water security. He directed officials to expedite pending works under the project. "The Dewas Project is extremely important for Udaipur. Work on the project should be completed at the earliest," he stated. Officials informed the meeting that after the completion of the third and fourth phases of the Dewas Project, Udaipur's lakes are expected to face no major water shortage.
