Man Set on Fire by Brother-in-Law in Tarn Taran

A 24-year-old man, identified as Lovepreet Singh of Kuhlwa (Lopoke), was allegedly set on fire by his brother-in-law at Sangha village in Tarn Taran district on Saturday.

Incident Details

The victim was admitted to a private hospital in a critical condition. According to information, Lovepreet had come to his in-laws’ village, Sangha, to take his wife back home. However, as she was not present at the house, he left for another destination.

After some time, his brother-in-law, Sajan Singh, called him on his mobile phone. When Lovepreet returned to his in-laws’ house, Sajan allegedly poured petrol on him and set him on fire.

Escape and Rescue

In an attempt to save himself, Lovepreet jumped into a nearby drain and managed to escape. Residents of the area rushed to his aid and admitted him to a private hospital, where he is undergoing treatment.

Police Action

The Sadar police have registered a case against Sajan Singh under Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and initiated further investigation.
