Birsa Munda Cyclothon Team Arrives in Kanpur

A dedicated cycling team, on a mission to spread the powerful ideals of courage and national unity, made a significant stop in the industrial city of Kanpur. The Veer Birsa Munda Cyclothon team arrived on Thursday, receiving a warm and ceremonial welcome from the National Cadet Corps (NCC) and local residents.

A Grand Welcome by Kanpur NCC

The team was formally received at the NCC Group Headquarters in Kanpur. The reception committee was led by Brigadier Praveen Shastri, the Group Commander, and Colonel C S Mehra, the Commanding Officer of the 55 UP Battalion NCC. They were joined by a spirited group of NCC cadets and members of the local community, showcasing a blend of military discipline and public participation.

The welcome ceremony was not just about formalities. It was enriched by vibrant cultural performances presented by the NCC cadets. Following the performances, the cyclothon team members conducted a briefing session. They used this platform to educate the audience about the life, struggles, and lasting contributions of the legendary tribal freedom fighter, Veer Birsa Munda.

The Journey From Fatehpur and Beyond

Prior to reaching Kanpur, the team began its inspirational journey from Fatehpur. After a night's halt there, the cyclists were ceremonially flagged off for the Kanpur leg of their tour. The flag-off in Fatehpur was conducted by Colonel Yogendra Chinwan, the Administrative Officer of the 60 UP Battalion NCC. The event was witnessed by NCC cadets, officers, and local dignitaries.

After their impactful stop in Kanpur, the team is not resting for long. They are set to resume their onward journey to Auraiya on Day 13 of their expedition. Their bicycles will continue to carry forward the core message of the cyclothon: fostering unity and instilling a deep sense of national pride among citizens across the region.
