Chandigarh Boxers Win Two Golds at National Sub-Junior Championships

Chandigarh boxers Mehul Rana and Saurav claimed gold medals at the 5th Sub-Junior National Boys and Girls Boxing Championships, which concluded on Monday. The duo led a four-medal haul for the city, which also included two bronze medals.

Gold Medal Performances

Mehul Rana, representing Pandit Mohan Lal Sanatan Dharma School in Sector 32, secured the gold in the -70kg weight category by defeating his opponent from Punjab. Rana had previously represented India at the Sub-Junior Asian Boxing Championships held in Uzbekistan, gaining valuable international experience.

Saurav, training at the Sector 42 Boxing Coaching Centre, won the gold in the -35kg category after overcoming a boxer from Haryana. His victory added to Chandigarh's success at the national event.

Bronze Medal Winners

Two other Chandigarh boxers also stood on the podium. Rudransh finished third in the +70kg category, earning a bronze medal. In the girls' competition, Sakshi claimed bronze in the -49kg weight category. Overall, Chandigarh boxers won four medals at the national championships, showcasing the city's growing talent in the sport.
