The Athletics Federation of India (AFI) is gearing up to host the Indian Athletics Series - 2, a premier national competition that will bring together some of the country's top athletes. The event is scheduled to take place on April 5 at the iconic Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, promising a day of high-octane athletic performances.
Event Details and Organization
Organized under the aegis of the AFI in collaboration with the Rajasthan Athletics Association, this one-day competition will be held on a Sunday, with Surendra Singh Gurjar serving as the organizing secretary. The event will adhere strictly to the World Athletics Competition and Technical Rules 2026, as confirmed by AFI officiating secretary G Srinibas Patnaik, ensuring international standards of fairness and precision.
Deonarayan Gurjar, secretary of the Rajasthan Athletics Association, announced that the competition will be structured into four distinct categories: men, women, U-20 men, and U-20 women. This inclusive format aims to foster talent across different age groups and genders, highlighting the depth of athletic prowess in India.
Schedule and Preparations
The meet will kick off with a hammer throw event at 6:30 AM, setting the tone for a packed day of athletics. According to organizing secretary Surendra Singh Gurjar, the morning session is expected to conclude around 11:30 AM, followed by a lunch break. The evening session will resume at 3 PM, with all competitions slated to wrap up by 6 PM.
Gurjar expressed confidence in the preparations, stating, "The preparations have been done and we are ready to host the first big national athletics event in Rajasthan." To ensure smooth conduct, an organizing committee has been formed, comprising members such as Sharda Jadam, Pawan Kumar Arora, Dipendra Singh, Virendra Singh Patwari, and Abhishek Meena, alongside Gurjar.

The Indian Athletics Series - 2 will feature a diverse range of events designed to test athletes' speed, endurance, and skill. For senior men and women, the lineup includes:
- 100m, 400m, 1500m, and 3000m steeplechase races
- 110m hurdles for men and 100m hurdles for women

For the U-20 categories, the events are tailored to younger athletes, featuring:
- 200m, 400m, 1500m, and 3000m steeplechase
