Anthony Joshua's Cold Response to Jake Paul's Boxing Future After Brutal Fight
Joshua's Cold Response to Paul's Boxing Future After Brutal Fight

Anthony Joshua gave a brutally cold response when he was asked about Jake Paul possibly never boxing again following their damaging fight in December 2025. During media duties in Riyadh this week, reporters brought up Paul's uncertain future after suffering serious facial injuries in the bout. Joshua did not say much and simply replied, "That's boxing."

The fight left Jake Paul with a broken jaw in two places after Joshua stopped him in the sixth round. Paul later revealed he needed two titanium plates in his face and also lost several teeth because of the damage. The YouTuber-turned-boxer has not returned to the ring since the loss, and his professional boxing record now stands at 12-2. In an interview with Ariel Helwani last month, Paul admitted doctors were still checking his recovery and said there is a real possibility his boxing career could already be over.

Even with questions surrounding his future, Jake Paul is still speaking confidently about landing a mega-fight against Canelo Alvarez. Paul recently claimed the Mexican superstar had already spoken with him directly about a possible showdown. Paul said, "Canelo said he's down on the phone, so we're going to make it happen. I have the $200 million. I think that's going to be the next fight. Sign the contract, Canelo. Much respect to you." He later added, "Let's make the biggest fight in boxing happen."

While Paul continues making headlines outside the ring, Anthony Joshua is fully focused on his own return fight against Kristian Prenga in Saudi Arabia on July 25. The British heavyweight has not fought since beating Paul last December. Joshua has also dealt with personal tragedy during his time away from boxing. Shortly after the Paul fight, the former heavyweight champion was involved in a car accident in Nigeria. Joshua survived because he was travelling as a passenger, but two of his close friends and team members, Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele, sadly lost their lives in the crash.

At the same time, boxing fans are already looking ahead to Joshua's expected blockbuster fight against Tyson Fury later in 2026. Fury returned to the ring in April after a 16-month break and defeated Russian heavyweight Arslanbek Makhmudov by unanimous decision at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Joshua watched the fight from ringside, which quickly increased speculation around a long-awaited all-British showdown. Last month, Fury's promoter Frank Warren and Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn confirmed that a deal for the fight had already been agreed. The heavyweight clash is currently expected to happen in November 2026, although the official location has not been announced yet.
