The seventh day of the Khelo India University Games (KIUG) Rajasthan 2025 witnessed a spectacular display of athletic prowess at Jaipur's Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Monday. The spotlight shone on record-breaking performances and thrilling sprint finals, with Chandigarh University's Tanya Choudhary stealing the show in the women's hammer throw.
Record-Shattering Throws and Sprint Glory
Tanya Choudhary, a participant at the Hangzhou Asian Games, produced a monumental effort to clinch the women's hammer throw gold. She hurled the 4kg hammer to a distance of 64.29 metres, not only breaking the existing meet record but also surpassing her own All India University (AIU) record. This remarkable feat secured her a hat-trick of KIUG gold medals. The silver in this event went to Panjab University's Haqikat Kaur Grewa (51.90m), while Punjabi University's Aman Deep Kaur (45.06m) took the bronze.
The track events were equally electrifying. Jain University's Keerthana sprinted to victory in the women's 100m final, clocking 11.94 seconds to claim her university's first gold medal outside the swimming pool. In the men's 100m, Shivaji University's Rushiprasad Desai emerged as the fastest man, winning gold with a time of 10.53 seconds.
Other Key Highlights from the Athletics Arena
The day's action began with long-distance races. Bushra Khan of Rabindranath Tagore University won the women's 5000m gold, clocking 18:15.27. In the men's 5000m, Trilok Kumar of Lalit Narayan Mithila University took the top spot with a time of 15:06.16.
Chandigarh University continued its strong showing with another gold in women's shot put, courtesy of Shiksha, who cleared 15.00 metres. This performance helped Chandigarh University solidify its position in the overall standings.
Other notable gold medal winners in athletics included Manisha (Kurukshetra University) in women's 400m, Deepanshi Singh (Dr Ram Manohar Lohia University) in women's long jump, and SM Akash Raj (Madurai Kamraj University) in men's 400m.

The fifth edition of the Khelo India University Games is being hosted across seven cities in Rajasthan. A massive contingent of 4448 athletes from 222 universities is competing for glory in 23 medal sports. The event is organized under the aegis of the Sports Authority of India in collaboration with the Rajasthan State Sports Council, with Poornima University as the host.
