Republic Day Parade Ignites Defence Aspirations Among NCC Cadets
In the early hours of Monday morning, a dedicated group of National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets arrived at Kartavya Path, the iconic venue for the Republic Day parade. Dressed in their crisp uniforms and brimming with enthusiasm, these young individuals were clear about their mission for the day.
Dual Roles: Service and Spectatorship
The cadets efficiently divided themselves into two groups to maximize their contribution. One team assisted traffic marshals in managing the flow of vehicles and pedestrians, while the other provided dedicated support to specially-abled visitors, ensuring their comfort and accessibility throughout the event. Once the parade commenced and their duties permitted a break, these cadets transitioned from helpers to honored spectators, taking their seats to witness the grand spectacle.
For many, this experience served as a powerful catalyst, bringing them closer to their dream of clearing the Central Defence Services Exam. The parade's display of discipline, unity, and national pride reinforced their commitment to serving the country through the armed forces.
Personal Stories of Inspiration and Ambition
Vipin Kumar, a 21-year-old cadet who joined the NCC in 2023, shared his thoughts as his exam approaches in April. "This is not just any other day," he remarked. "It reminds us how the country should function – about our rights and equality. Witnessing the parade fuels my determination to succeed."
Aryan, aged 19, drew inspiration from his family background, with his father being a retired Army officer. "Seeing the forces come together makes me believe in diversity all the more, which we usually see in the NCC too," he said. "The Bhairav contingent was the highlight for me. I will aim to join this contingent in the future."
Sitting beside him, Sayon Mandal, 21, expressed the emotional impact of the event. "You know, in the morning, when we came here, it was all so silent, but as soon as the salute took place, I got goosebumps," he recalled. "One of the reasons I joined NCC was to one day come and witness the parade, and today that dream came true."
Priyanshu, a 20-year-old with two years of NCC experience, noted the evolution of the parade since he first saw it five years ago. "Technology plays a much bigger role now," he observed. "Drones play a crucial role, which is a significant difference." Despite his father working for the Delhi Police, Priyanshu has set his sights on joining the armed forces, inspired by the advancements and traditions on display.
