NIT Calicut Crowned Overall Champion at Inter-NIT Athletics and Chess Tournament

The three-day All-India Inter-NIT Athletics and Chess Tournament 2025-26 concluded with a spectacular closing ceremony at the athletic field of Dr BR Ambedkar National Institute of Technology (NIT), Jalandhar. This prestigious event saw NIT Calicut clinch the overall championship title, showcasing exceptional talent and sportsmanship across multiple disciplines.

Host Institute NIT Jalandhar Delivers Outstanding Performance

While NIT Calicut secured the top honor, the host institute, NIT Jalandhar, put up an outstanding performance that delighted the home crowd. A total of 22 NITs from across the country participated in this mega sporting event, making it a highly competitive and memorable occasion.

Nasim Akhtar of NIT Jalandhar was declared the best athlete of the tournament, highlighting her remarkable contributions. She won the gold medal in the 100-metre women's race, setting a high standard for the competition.

  • Manish Saveda of NIT Allahabad took home the gold medal in the 400-metre hurdles, and Gaurav Meena of NIT Jaipur emerged as the winner in the 10,000-metre men's race.
  • In the high jump event, Anita Meena of NIT Jalandhar secured the silver medal, while M Awasthi KP from NIT Calicut won the gold medal.
