The Sports and Cultural Department of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has taken a significant step to promote competitive sports among economically disadvantaged students by launching technical swimming training for civic school students. This initiative aims to develop their skills and help them achieve excellence in swimming.
Selection Process
A preliminary selection test was conducted for boys and girls from NMMC schools, with a total of 110 boys and 62 girls participating. From this pool, 21 boys and 6 girls were selected for the next phase of advanced training.
Training Program
NMMC Sports Officer Revappa Gurav confirmed that the advanced training phase will commence soon. The program is designed to provide rigorous technical coaching to nurture young talent and prepare them for competitive events.
This initiative underscores NMMC's commitment to fostering sports among students from economically weaker sections, ensuring they have opportunities to excel in athletics and represent the city at higher levels.
