Nyck De Vries Wins Monaco E-Prix for Mahindra Racing

It was a landmark day for Mahindra Racing in Monaco on Saturday as Nyck De Vries stood atop the podium after winning the Monaco E-Prix, with the Indian national anthem resonating around the Circuit de Monaco. De Vries had been chasing another victory for years, and it finally arrived at one of motorsport's most iconic venues. The win was his first with Mahindra Racing, the team's first in the GEN3 era, and the fifth victory of his Formula E career. It ended a long wait since his previous triumph in Berlin in 2022.

Nyck De Vries Wins Monaco E-Prix by Comfortable Margin

Mahindra Racing's Nyck De Vries delivered a composed drive through the tight and twisty streets of Monaco to claim victory ahead of Jaguar TCS Racing's Mitch Evans and Cupra Kiro's Pepe Marti. Starting second on the grid, De Vries eventually took control of the race with a perfectly executed Pit Boost strategy, finishing the 2026 Monaco E-Prix with a comfortable three-second gap to the cars behind him.

The Dutch driver was among the first to make his Pit Boost stop, diving into the pits on Lap 16. He then timed his Attack Mode activation superbly, overtaking then-race leader Antonio Felix da Costa of Jaguar TCS Racing on Lap 20 and remaining calm despite the frantic battles unfolding around him. He also carried out the special Monaco E-Prix winner's tradition of jumping into the pool and could be seen letting out a deep sigh of relief as he floated carefree in the water.

Nyck De Vries Calls His Win with Mahindra Racing Emotional

Reflecting on his Monaco victory, Nyck De Vries said: "The first one for Mahindra together. It's been a great day, we've had great pace, the car was amazing and the team executed the right calls at the right time. We had the right energy to push during the pit window and we've won our first race together. It's a little bit emotional because it's been a pretty rough start and we've been on the receiving end for quite a while. It just shows that you have to hang in there and better times will come."

"In 2024, I joined the team and we were second from last. Last year we had a great year finishing fourth in the Teams' Championship. We are obviously more ambitious than that, so we are very happy with the progress of the team and I think the atmosphere within the team is great. Theoretically this was the perfect plan and it worked out well, but you still have to execute the job," he added.

Nyck De Vries also shared pictures from his victory celebrations in Monaco on Instagram, captioning the post: "WINNERSSS at home, what a day!! Thank you team."

De Vries now sits 10th in the Formula E Drivers' Standings with 43 points, while his teammate Edoardo Mortara is third with 103 points.
