Prominent Athletes Eager to Impress at the Indoor Meet

The Odisha squad boasts several other notable athletes who are keen to make their mark. Sprinter Lalu Prasad Bhoi, who will be competing in the 60m event, expressed his excitement about participating in his first-ever indoor competition. However, Bhoi's primary focus remains on the Federation Cup and the National Inter-State Senior Athletics, which serve as crucial qualifying events for the Commonwealth Games and Asian Games, respectively.

Another key athlete to watch is quarter-miler Bapi Hansda, who is making a comeback to major tournaments after sustaining an injury during the national games in January last year. Hansda demonstrated his resilience by winning a silver medal in the boys' U-23 400m at the Odisha State Athletics in December, clocking an impressive time of 49.48 seconds.

Hurdler Sabita Toppo and Young Talents Aim for Breakthrough Performances

Sabita Toppo will be aiming for a consistent performance in the hurdles event after facing challenges over the past year. Meanwhile, the squad also features promising young athletes who are poised to grab headlines.

Pratik Maharana, who clinched the 200m gold with a meet record at the National Junior Athletics meet in the U20 category in Bhubaneswar last year, will be competing in the 60m event for the U20 category. His exceptional performance last year has set high expectations for his indoor debut.

Shot-putter Ommkar Prasad enters the championships on the back of a gold medal-winning performance in the U20 category at the Indian Open Throws Competition in Patiala. The 18-year-old athlete topped the podium with a remarkable throw of 17.85 meters, showcasing his potential to excel at the national level.
