The young girls of Rajasthan brought laurels to the region by clinching the silver medal at the 45th Sub Junior National Shooting Ball Championship. The event was held at NTR Stadium in Mahbubabad, Telangana, from May 12 to 14, 2026.
Outstanding Performance by Rajasthan Girls
According to Dr. OP Machra, General Secretary of the Rajasthan Shooting Ball Association, the state's Under-17 Sub Junior girls team reached the finals due to the excellent performances of Kishna, captain Chanchal Jangid, and Vidhi Rohilla. Coach RP Sherawat also played a crucial role in the team's success.
The Rajasthan girls' march was only halted in the final, where they became the runners-up after a thrilling match against Haryana. The team went down fighting with scores of 19-21, 21-17, and 20-22, settling for the silver medal. Maharashtra finished in third place.
Boys' Team Performance
The Rajasthan boys' team also performed admirably, winning all their pool matches against Mumbai, Goa, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh to top their pool and advance to the quarterfinals. However, they lost to the eventual champions, Uttar Pradesh, in a close contest with scores of 19-21 and 20-21. In the boys' category, Uttar Pradesh emerged victorious, Gujarat were the runners-up, and West Bengal secured third place.
Closing Ceremony Highlights
The chief guests at the closing ceremony included General Secretary of the Asian Shooting Ball Federation Ravindra Singh Tomar, Vice President of the Shooting Ball Federation of India Dr. OP Machra, General Secretary Jeetraj Tomar, Treasurer Jitendra Singh Baghel, Member Ranjeet Kale, Aalaih, Ramaidu, Atul Tomar, and Shakki Mohammad. The guests distributed trophies, cash prizes, medals, mementos, and certificates to all the winning teams.
Telangana BJP organization general secretary Chandra Shekhar, along with all officials of the Rajasthan Shooting Ball Association, expressed happiness over the silver medal won by the girls and wished the players all the best.
