Union Minister of State for Sports Raksha Khadse has lauded the initiative 'Project Amarjeet', which aims to support Indian shooters by providing them with high-quality pellets. On the occasion of Mother's Day, Olympic medalist Gagan Narang and Commonwealth Games medalist Annu Raj Singh distributed five lakh pellets to shooters across the country.
Project Amarjeet: A Boost for Indian Shooting
Project Amarjeet, named after the late shooter Amarjeet Singh, is a significant step towards nurturing shooting talent in India. The project focuses on providing essential equipment to shooters, especially those from underprivileged backgrounds. Raksha Khadse emphasized the importance of such initiatives in her address, stating that they play a crucial role in the development of sports at the grassroots level.
Distribution of Pellets on Mother's Day
Gagan Narang and Annu Raj Singh, both renowned shooters, personally oversaw the distribution of five lakh pellets. The event was held at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range in New Delhi. Narang, who won a bronze medal at the 2012 London Olympics, highlighted the need for consistent support to shooters. Annu Raj Singh, a multiple Commonwealth Games medalist, added that such efforts would help India produce more world-class shooters.
Government's Role in Promoting Shooting Sports
Raksha Khadse reiterated the government's commitment to promoting shooting sports in India. She mentioned that the Ministry of Sports is working on several schemes to provide better training facilities and equipment to athletes. The distribution of pellets under Project Amarjeet is one such step towards ensuring that shooters have access to quality resources.
The initiative has been widely appreciated by the shooting community. Many young shooters expressed their gratitude for the support. The event also saw the presence of several coaches and officials from the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI).
Project Amarjeet is expected to continue its efforts in the coming months, with plans to distribute more equipment and provide training camps for aspiring shooters.
