Motocross Rider Dies in Tragic Highway Crash Before Cricket Match Trip
Professional motocross rider Ritesh Reddy, a close relative of a prominent cement factory owner, died in a fatal highway accident in Chityal, Nalgonda district, on Sunday afternoon. The tragic incident occurred shortly after he separated from a group of bikers to travel alone to Hyderabad, where he planned to catch a flight to Sri Lanka to watch the high-stakes India-Pakistan cricket match.
Details of the Fatal Journey
According to Narketpalli Circle Inspector Nagaraju, Ritesh had been part of a group of nearly 50 high-end bikers from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh who traveled to Bapatla on Friday. After spending time in the coastal area until Sunday morning, the group began their return journey together.
The riders traveled together until Suryapet district, where they planned to take a break at a popular food court on National Highway-65 after refueling their bikes. However, Ritesh, who had limited time to reach Hyderabad to board his flight, chose to continue the journey alone on his high-end BMW 1,300cc adventure bike.
The Accident Investigation
After traveling approximately 50 kilometers alone, Ritesh met with the fatal accident near Chityal. Police investigators noted several metres of scratch marks on the road where the bike had veered off before the rider suffered fatal injuries, primarily to his head.
Chityal Sub-Inspector Ravi Kumar revealed that although the BMW motorcycle has cameras at the front and rear, police have been unable to access the footage. The memory card is being handed over to BMW authorities for technical assistance, as police attempts to retrieve the data proved unsuccessful.
Family Suspicions and Investigation Challenges
According to the complaint lodged by Ritesh's family members, they suspect the incident could be a case of hit-and-run. His family emphasized that Ritesh was a trained biker with extensive international experience who was known for taking all necessary precautions and avoiding risks to his life.
Police face significant challenges in their investigation:
- There are no CCTV cameras on the highway at the accident site
- Witnesses near the spot stated they had not seen any other vehicle on the road apart from a motorcycle
- The cause of the accident remains undetermined despite ongoing investigation
