The sports fraternity of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar has been plunged into profound grief following the untimely demise of promising shooter and sports executive officer, Sambhaji Shivajirao Jhanjhann. The 27-year-old athlete tragically lost his life in a devastating road accident on Monday morning, sending shockwaves through the community.
Details of the Fatal Accident
According to police sources, the fatal incident occurred near Manor in Palghar district. Jhanjhann was traveling from Pune to Ahmedabad to participate in intensive practice sessions ahead of a crucial national-level shooting competition. His car met with a severe accident in the morning hours, and he succumbed to his injuries at the scene itself.
A Stellar Career Cut Short
Sambhaji Jhanjhann was widely recognized as one of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar's most talented and accomplished shooters. Over a distinguished career spanning from 2011 to 2025, he amassed an impressive tally of 75 medals and certificates across various district, state, and national-level events. He consistently represented his city and the state with great distinction, building a reputation for excellence and dedication.
At the time of his passing, Jhanjhann was employed as a sports executive officer at Balewadi in Pune. His journey to Ahmedabad was part of a committed effort to continue rigorous training for upcoming national competitions, highlighting his unwavering focus and passion for the sport.
Community Mourns a Dedicated Sportsperson
News of his sudden death spread rapidly, triggering an immense outpouring of sorrow from fellow sportspersons, coaches, officials, and admirers across the region. His family has announced that the last rites will be performed on Tuesday morning at the crematorium located near Central Naka in the Cidco N-6 area of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Sambhaji Jhanjhann is survived by his father, Shivaji Jhanjhan, a retired chief fire officer of the municipal corporation, along with other grieving family members.
