Kanpur: Virat Sahni and Krish Singh played unbeaten half-centuries and shared a 161-run opening partnership to guide Solovair UK XI to a resounding 10-wicket victory over Oliver Brown in a Pool league match of the JNT Under-12 cricket tournament for the Sigma Griplock trophy at the Kanpur South ground on Wednesday.

Oliver Brown's Innings

Batting first, Oliver Brown XI posted a competitive total of 158 runs. Opener Arjun Singh top-scored with a fluent 71 runs, smashing 14 boundaries. Devansh Tripathi contributed 26 runs, while Vedant and Sanskar Gupta added 10 and 11 runs respectively. For Solovair, Pranjal Gupta was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3 for 9, while Mahesh Kumar took 2 for 19. Ayush Sharma, Vignesh Pal, and Harsh picked one wicket each.

Solovair's Dominant Chase

In reply, Solovair UK XI chased down the target with ease, reaching 161 without losing any wicket. Virat Sahni remained unbeaten on 85 runs, which included 15 boundaries and a six. Krish Singh supported him with an unbeaten 58 runs. The duo's unbroken stand ensured a comprehensive win for their team. Virat Sahni was named Man of the Match.

In another match of the tournament, Maplewood XI defeated Perf XI by 37 runs. Maplewood XI scored 156 for 6 in their allotted overs, with Kartik Shukla top-scoring with 32 runs and Nishant Pal contributing 29. Rudransh Singh took 3 for 14 for Perf XI. In response, Perf XI were bowled out for 119, with Vedansh making 44 and Aviral Singh 31. Nayan Singh was the star bowler for Maplewood, taking 4 for 6, and was named Man of the Match.

Inter-School Football Final

In football, Sir Padampat Singhania School will face Jaipuria School in the final of the Junior Inter School (ICSE/CBSE) Football championship on Thursday. Singhania School defeated Sir Syed School Unnao in a tie-breaker 5-3 in the first semifinal, while Jaipuria School beat Puranchandra Vidya Niketan 2-1 in the other semifinal. Alok Misra, founder of DPS School, will be the chief guest at the final, and Indra Mohan Rohatgi will be the special guest at the prize distribution function.
