Guwahati: Prakriti Pankaj Singh, a long-standing member of the Assam state table tennis team, has demonstrated that sports and academics can go hand in hand by scoring an impressive 98.2% in the ICSE examination. A student of Sanskriti The Gurukul School in the city, Prakriti emerged as one of the top performers when the ICSE results were announced on Thursday. Her achievement is a testament to her determination and the strong support system provided by her school and family.
Balancing Sports and Studies
Prakriti emphasized that balancing sports and academics was not difficult for her. 'Determination is everything. If someone is determined enough to achieve something, it can be done,' she said. She credited her school's day-boarding system, which allowed her to attend classes without feeling exhausted, leaving her with enough energy to dedicate time to table tennis practice. Her school also arranged special classes to help her cover lessons she missed due to tournaments, while her family provided unwavering support.
Family and School Support
Her father, Pankaj Singh, a lawyer, mentioned that the family always supported their only child, and the academy adjusted its timings for her convenience. 'We always tried to ensure that she never missed school if she was in the city,' he said. Prakriti added, 'Whenever I used to go for tournaments and missed classes for two to three days, my teachers took extra care to clear the backlog. They also arranged extra classes for me.' She believes that balancing academics and sports has been her mantra since the beginning.
Prakriti's story serves as an inspiration for students who aspire to excel in both sports and academics, proving that with determination and support, it is possible to achieve excellence in multiple fields.
