The two-day Institute Badminton League (IBL)-2026, organised by the Staff Gymkhana Team 2026-28 of IIT Kanpur, concluded successfully at the institute’s New Sports Complex. Employees from various departments participated enthusiastically, demonstrating excellent sportsmanship, discipline, and teamwork.
Inauguration and Key Highlights
The tournament was inaugurated by Prof. Kantesh Balani, Professor, Department of Materials Science and Engineering. Congratulating the captain of the men’s winning team, Manish K. Kharwar encouraged participants to take inspiration from the team’s performance and further improve their level of play, emphasising that healthy competition paves the way for excellence.
Competition Results
- Men’s Category: Winner – Team 8 (Captain: Manish K. Kharwar), Runner-up – Team 2 (Captain: Satya Siva Sankar Rao K).
- Women’s Category: Winner – Renu Verma.
- Divyang (PwD) Category: Winner – Girish Pant, Runner-up – Upendra Parashar.
Valedictory Ceremony
The valedictory and prize distribution ceremony was graced by Prof. Navrose, Associate Professor, Department of Aerospace Engineering, and Dr Naveen Kumar Gude, Chief Medical Officer, Health Centre. The Staff Gymkhana Team 2026–28 expressed gratitude to the institute administration, guests, participants, and all contributors for their support.
