Satwik-Chirag Fall Short in Thailand Open Final, Lose to Indonesian Pair
Satwik-Chirag Lose Thriller in Thailand Open Final

The wait for an elusive title continues for Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty. The former world number one pair last won a title at the same venue in 2024, but they failed to replicate that magic this time around.

The top Indian doubles pair saved four championship points before losing to Leo Rolly Carnando and Daniel Marthin of Indonesia with a scoreline of 12-21, 23-25 in the Thailand Open BWF Super-500 tournament held in Bangkok.

Despite not clinching the title, the Indian duo has been remarkably consistent on the tour, reaching several finals, securing a bronze medal at the World Championships, and performing well in the recently concluded Thomas Cup. In their third final of the year, Satwik and Chirag looked sharp in the second game before suffering their first defeat against the Indonesian pair in five meetings.

Satwik expressed satisfaction with their performance despite the loss. "Except for today, I am happy with the way we played this week. It is more mental than physical now," he said.

Shriyanshi Loses in Final

A week after winning the Mexican International title, 19-year-old Shriyanshi Valishetty lost to An Qi Yuan of China 14-21, 6-21 in the final of the China Masters Super-100 tournament.
