Vani Sharma emerged as the star performer at the 5th Chandigarh Hot Weather Table Tennis Tournament, securing a double crown by winning both the girls' under-19 and senior women's singles titles. The tournament concluded at the Sector 23 TT Hall in Chandigarh.

Girls' Under-19 Final

In the girls' under-19 category, Vani Sharma faced a tough opponent in Delhi's Varya Jain. The match was a thrilling encounter that went the distance. Vani eventually prevailed with a 11-9, 7-11, 12-10, 14-12, 7-11, 11-9 victory, showcasing her resilience and skill.

Senior Women's Final

Vani once again proved her mettle in the senior women's final, where she faced Varya Jain for the second time. The match was even more challenging, with both players displaying exceptional talent. Vani overcame a tough fight from Varya, winning 11-7, 11-9, 6-11, 8-11, 9-11, 11-8, 12-10 to clinch the title.

Men's Singles Final

In the men's singles final, local contender Vadya Chawla defeated Pritish Sood in a closely contested match. Vadya won with a scoreline of 11-9, 8-11, 11-7, 10-12, 11-7, 11-9, securing the men's title in front of a supportive home crowd.

Boys' Under-19 Singles

Despite missing out on the men's title, Pritish Sood bounced back strongly to claim the boys' under-19 singles championship. He faced Amritsar's Rajveer Singh Bhatia in a tightly fought match. Sood emerged victorious with a 11-7, 8-11, 11-6, 9-11, 12-10 win, adding a silver lining to his tournament campaign.

Prize Distribution

The winners were awarded by Atul Nanda, senior advocate of the Supreme Court and president of the Punjab Table Tennis Association, along with Pankaj Sharma, senior adviser of the association. Their presence added prestige to the event.

Participation

The tournament saw participation from around 300 players representing Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Chandigarh, making it a vibrant and competitive event.
