Ahmedabad Hits 42.5°C, No Relief in Sight

Ahmedabad experienced scorching heat on Thursday, with the maximum temperature reaching 42.5 degrees Celsius, which was 2.8 degrees above the normal mark. This was the highest maximum temperature recorded among cities and towns across Gujarat. The minimum temperature also remained elevated at 29.7 degrees Celsius, 1.7 degrees higher than usual.

Residents faced high humidity levels, with relative humidity measured at 63 percent at 8:30 am and 41 percent at 5:30 pm. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), there is no immediate relief in sight. The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 42 degrees Celsius on Friday, and no significant change in maximum temperatures is likely across the state over the next seven days.

A trough extending from a cyclonic circulation over Haryana to the Northeast Arabian Sea, passing across West Rajasthan and Gujarat, is influencing the weather. The IMD noted that conditions are favorable for the further advance of the southwest monsoon, which has already covered parts of Maharashtra and Telangana.
