Akash Vijayvargiya Secures Second Term as IDCA President
Former MLA Akash Vijayvargiya has been unanimously re-elected as the president of the Indore Divisional Cricket Association. The association held its annual general meeting on Saturday at the Gymkhana Ground office.
Unanimous Voice Vote Endorses Continuation
Members endorsed Vijayvargiya's continuation through a voice vote. This marks his second consecutive term leading the regional cricket body. He first assumed charge as IDCA president two years ago.
Vijayvargiya is the son of cabinet minister Kailash Vijayvargiya. With this renewed mandate, he now has the authority to constitute a new executive committee.
New Committee Formation and Tenure Details
The formation of the new executive body is expected to happen shortly. However, major changes in the existing executive are considered unlikely. The new committee will be appointed for a two-year term.
Extending the tenure to three years would require amendments to the association's constitution. Such amendments are not currently planned.
Grassroots Cricket Remains Top Priority
Addressing members after the meeting, Vijayvargiya emphasized that strengthening cricket at the grassroots would remain a priority. He highlighted efforts made in recent years to promote district-level and women's cricket.
These efforts included the successful conduct of inter-district tournaments and multiple competitions for women players. The association now plans to focus specifically on school-level cricket.
Vijayvargiya announced plans to organize dedicated school tournaments. This initiative aims to widen the talent pool and identify young cricketers early in their development.
Corporate Members Inducted for Financial Stability
A key decision taken during the meeting was the induction of twenty-two new corporate members. IDCA officials stated that including corporate entities aims to improve the organization's financial stability.
It also seeks to enhance overall administrative strength. IDCA secretary Devashish Nilose explained that corporate member support would help expand activities.
This support would specifically assist in improving infrastructure and tournament planning. The move represents a strategic step toward sustainable organizational growth.

IDCA chairman Sanjay Lunawat also attended the meeting. Other senior members present included:
