Former Bangladesh captain Kazi Habibul Bashar, aged 53, has been named the Chairman of the newly formed panel. Bashar brings a wealth of experience to this pivotal role, having previously served as a national selector for both the men's and women's teams. His illustrious playing career saw him become the first Bangladeshi cricketer to surpass 3000 runs in Test cricket, cementing his status as one of the nation's most respected figures in the sport.
Composition of the Selection Panel
Joining Bashar on the panel is former Bangladesh pacer Hasibul Hossain, who has been part of the previous selection panel under Gazi Ashraf Hossain since September 2025. The panel also includes Naeem Islam, a 39-year-old former cricketer with a prolific two-decade career, having scored over 20,000 runs across formats. Naeem holds the national record for the most first-class centuries by a Bangladeshi, with an impressive tally of 34 centuries.
Additionally, Nadif Chowdhury, aged 38, brings extensive playing experience to the panel, including appearances in T20 internationals for Bangladesh. Following his retirement, Chowdhury has been actively involved in talent development, serving as an Age Group Selector under the BCB, which adds valuable insight into nurturing young cricketers.

The tenure of this newly appointed selection panel is set to run through to the selection of the Bangladesh squad for the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2027.
