Construction hampers traffic on Bengaluru-Chennai NH

KRISHNAGIRI: Construction work on a new suburban bus stand and a flyover near Pathalapalli in Hosur has been hampering traffic flow on the Bengaluru–Chennai National Highway in the last few days.

Traffic Diversion and Congestion

Authorities have diverted vehicles to the service road for the construction work of the Rs 40 crore bus stand project, along with the erection of flyover pillars. This has caused traffic congestion for nearly 3 kilometers from the Hosur bus stand to Pathalapalli. The traffic congestion is severe during peak hours, with serpentine queues of two-wheelers and other vehicles stranded on the stretch.

Impact on Commuters

School and college students, as well as office-goers, face significant delays as vehicles move at a slow pace. V Ramesh, a motorist from Hosur, expressed his frustration, stating that the service road is not designed to handle such heavy traffic. A daily commuter from Bengaluru added that with all vehicles being diverted to the service road, it feels like being stuck in a never-ending line.

Local Concerns

Locals have also raised concerns over traffic management. S Kavitha, a shopkeeper near Pathalapalli, emphasized that while development is important, authorities should plan better to avoid daily suffering for people. Officials have acknowledged the inconvenience and explained that the flyover project aims to ease congestion in the long term. A highway engineer assured that once completed, the flyover will significantly reduce traffic snarls in Hosur and requested public cooperation during this temporary hardship.
