The Dallas Cowboys have endured a challenging period on the field over the past two seasons, recording a disappointing 7-10 record in both 2024 and 2025. With their last playoff victory dating back to January 2023, the team appears determined to make a strong comeback in the upcoming season.
Trade Rumors Surrounding Kayvon Thibodeaux
According to a recent report by Bleacher Report's Alex Kay, the Dallas Cowboys could potentially make a move for New York Giants star pass rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux. Kay wrote, "Dallas has several draft picks in this range it could use to make a run at Thibodeaux, including Nos. 92 and 112 overall." He added, "While his recent efforts don't quite warrant that sort of capital, Thibodeaux is still only 25 years old and has shown he can be a double-digit sack contributor when healthy and motivated." Kay continued, "Trading for Thibodeaux is the type of gamble the Cowboys must make if they are going to make significant defensive strides in 2026 following last year's abysmal showing."
However, the Dallas Cowboys have not confirmed any trade discussions regarding Thibodeaux at this time. While reports suggest the New York Giants may be reluctant to trade him, ESPN's Adam Schefter noted that Thibodeaux could still attract significant interest despite his recent performance struggles.
Thibodeaux's Recent Performance and Injury History
Kayvon Thibodeaux has faced injury-plagued seasons in both 2024 and 2025, hindering his consistency on the field. In the most recent season, he recorded only 2.5 sacks and 25 tackles across 10 games before being placed on injured reserve in December due to a severe shoulder injury. In 2024, a wrist injury caused him to miss five games, finishing the season with 5.5 sacks, 28 total tackles, 17 quarterback hits, and one forced fumble in 12 games.
Despite these setbacks, many analysts believe Thibodeaux has the potential to bounce back in the new season. All eyes are now on the Dallas Cowboys to see if they will pursue a trade for the talented but injury-prone pass rusher.
