New Delhi: Ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) match between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on April 25, the Delhi Traffic Police has issued a traffic advisory, warning of heavy congestion in and around central Delhi. The day-night match, scheduled from 3 pm to 7:30 pm, is expected to draw large crowds, leading to increased vehicular movement on key arterial roads.
Traffic Diversions and Restrictions
Traffic diversions and restrictions may be imposed on Bahadur Shah Zafar (BSZ) Marg and Jawaharlal Nehru (JLN) Marg between 1 pm and 9 pm, depending on ground conditions. Entry of heavy and commercial vehicles will be prohibited on specific stretches, including from Daryaganj to Delhi Gate Chowk, Delhi Gate to Guru Nanak Chowk, and ITO to Delhi Gate.
Advisory for Commuters
Commuters have been advised to avoid JLN Marg from Rajghat to Delhi Gate, Asaf Ali Road from Turkman Gate to Delhi Gate, and BSZ Marg between Delhi Gate and ITO to minimise congestion. Alternative routes should be planned to avoid delays.
Stadium Access and Parking
Stadium access will be regulated gate-wise. Gates 1 to 8 on the south side will be accessible via BSZ Marg, Gates 10 to 15 on the east side via JLN Marg near the Ambedkar Stadium bus terminal, and Gates 16 to 18 on the west side again through BSZ Marg. Parking near the stadium will not be permitted except for labelled vehicles. Designated parking areas have been earmarked at JP Park, Vikram Nagar, and near the JJB/Prayas offices.
Cab Pick-Up and Drop-Off Points
App-based cab pick-up and drop-off points have been fixed at Gate No. 2 near Maulana Azad Medical College, Rajghat Chowk, and the service lane on Ring Road between IP Flyover and Rajghat. Attendees are advised to use these designated points to avoid inconvenience.
