A tragic road accident occurred on NH-20 in Keonjhar district early Friday morning, resulting in the death of a trailer driver. The incident took place on Jhumpura Bypass when the trailer, traveling from Keonjhar, collided with a truck from behind. The driver became trapped inside the cabin of the trailer.
Rescue Operation
Upon receiving information about the accident, Jhumpura police promptly arrived at the scene. They were joined by the fire brigade to extricate the driver. The rescue team worked for several hours, ultimately using a machine-cutter to cut open the cabin and free the driver. He was immediately rushed to Jhumpura Community Health Centre, where a doctor declared him dead upon arrival.
Investigation Underway
The police have seized both vehicles involved in the accident and have initiated an investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash. The identity of the deceased driver has not yet been established, and authorities are working to identify him.
The collision caused significant traffic disruption on NH-20 for some time, but normalcy has since been restored. Local residents have expressed concern over road safety on this stretch of the highway.
