UPCA Announces Full Refund After Fog Cancels India vs South Africa T20I in Lucknow
Fog Cancels India-SA T20I, UPCA Announces Full Refund

In a significant announcement, the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) has committed to a full refund for all ticket holders after the fourth T20 International between India and South Africa was abruptly cancelled due to persistent fog and poor visibility at Lucknow's Ekana Stadium.

Match Called Off After Multiple Inspections

The highly anticipated encounter, scheduled for a 7:00 PM start on Wednesday, was officially called off at 9:30 PM following a total of six ground inspections by the match officials. A thick blanket of smog and fog rendered playing conditions impossible, forcing the abandonment of the game without a ball being bowled.

Detailed Refund Process for Fans

Prem Manohar Gupta, the Secretary of UPCA, outlined a clear two-channel refund mechanism in an official release. For the convenience of spectators, the association has established separate procedures for online and offline ticket purchases.

For fans who purchased their tickets through digital platforms, the refund will be automatically processed. "Spectators who purchased tickets online will receive a refund through their original payment method," Gupta stated. Notifications regarding the status of these refunds will be sent to the registered email addresses linked to the bookings.

Offline Ticket Holders: Steps to Claim Refund

Patrons who bought physical tickets have been given a specific window and location to claim their money back. They must visit the box office at Gate No. 2 of the Ekana International Cricket Stadium on December 20, 21, and 22, between 11:00 am and 6:00 pm.

The UPCA has mandated a strict verification process for offline refunds. Claimants must be present in person and bring the following documents:

  • The original physical ticket.
  • A copy of a Government-issued photo ID for verification.
  • Their bank account details.

At the counter, individuals will need to fill out a provided refund form with accurate information. They must then submit the completed form along with the original tickets for verification. The refund will be processed directly to the submitted bank account only after successful verification of all documents.

Looking Ahead: Series Decider in Ahmedabad

With this match being abandoned, the focus now shifts to the series decider. India and South Africa are set to play the fifth and final T20 match on Friday in Ahmedabad, where fans will hope for clear skies and an uninterrupted contest to conclude the exciting bilateral series.
