Four Dead in Meerut Car-Truck Collision on NH-9

Meerut: A tragic road accident on National Highway-9 under Gajraula police station limits in Amroha district claimed four lives and left two others injured early Wednesday morning. The incident occurred around 3 am when a speeding car rammed into a truck from behind. Police suspect the car driver may have dozed off at the wheel.

Victims Were Hifz Students on a Trip

The deceased have been identified as Masood (22), Naseemul (21), and Hashim (22), all residents of West Bengal's Malda district, and the car driver Mohd Salman (25). The four were among a group of five friends pursuing Hifz studies, the structured memorisation of the Quran, in Varanasi. They had traveled to Bareilly three days ago for a trip.

Journey Details

According to Dhanaura circle officer Anjali Kataria, the group boarded a train from Bareilly to Delhi on Tuesday night. However, due to overcrowding, they disembarked at Rampur railway station and hired a taxi to Delhi, from where they were scheduled to board another train to Varanasi. The taxi, a car, later collided with an unidentified truck.
