Ghana have officially announced their 26-member squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with head coach Carlos Queiroz having to manage several late injury setbacks before finalising the selection.
Key Absences
The Black Stars suffered a major blow with the absence of midfielder Mohammed Kudus, who failed to recover from a thigh injury in time for the tournament. Kudus sustained a quadriceps injury in January and underwent surgery, making his return unlikely. Additionally, defender Mohammed Salisu was ruled out after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament during a Ligue 1 match in January.
Welcome Return
There was positive news with the recall of left-back Baba Abdul Rahman, who returns to the national setup after a three-year absence. The 31-year-old was part of Ghana's 2022 World Cup squad but has made only one international appearance since then.
World Cup Campaign
Ghana begin their World Cup campaign against Panama on June 17 in Toronto. They will then face England in Boston on June 23 and Croatia in their remaining Group L fixtures.
