Gurnoor Brar Credits Nehra, Gill After India Debut, Eyes Tests

India's newest debutant Gurnoor Brar has credited former India pacer Ashish Nehra and current teammate Shubman Gill for helping him settle into international cricket. The left-arm pacer made his India debut in a T20I against South Africa, where he impressed with his pace and accuracy.

Gratitude Towards Mentors

Speaking after his debut, Brar said, "I have learned a lot from Ashish Nehra sir. He has been a mentor to me since my early days. Shubman Gill also guided me during the match, telling me to stay calm and focus on my lines."

Ambition to Play Test Cricket

Brar also revealed his long-term goal of representing India in Test cricket. "Test cricket is the ultimate challenge for any bowler. I am working hard on my fitness and skills to achieve that dream," he added.

The 22-year-old from Punjab has been a consistent performer in domestic cricket, picking up wickets for Punjab in the Ranji Trophy. His ability to swing the ball both ways and generate bounce has drawn comparisons to Nehra.

Brar's debut performance was commendable, as he conceded just 24 runs in his four overs and picked up a wicket. Team management has praised his attitude and willingness to learn.

With the T20 World Cup approaching, Brar's inclusion adds depth to India's pace attack. However, he remains focused on the longer format, stating that he is ready to put in the hard yards to earn a Test cap.
