Hardik Pandya to miss Afghanistan ODIs due to leg sprain
Hardik Pandya misses Afghanistan series with leg sprain

Hardik Pandya is set to miss the upcoming three-ODI series against Afghanistan due to a leg sprain, as confirmed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The premier all-rounder, who was at peak fitness and had been training hard at the BCCI Centre of Excellence since June 2, was expected to join the Shubman Gill-led squad in Dharamsala on June 11. However, a late setback has forced him to remain in Bengaluru for at least two more weeks.

Details of the injury

According to a BCCI official, Pandya sustained a low-grade, mild leg sprain causing tenderness. While the injury is not long-term, medical staff have advised him to avoid any strain or weight-bearing activities for the next few days. He will continue to stay in Bengaluru, consulting with the Centre of Excellence physios and trainers during his recovery phase.

Impact on the series

The absence of Pandya is a significant blow to the Indian team, given his all-round abilities. The three-match ODI series against Afghanistan is scheduled to begin shortly, and the team management will need to find a suitable replacement. The BCCI has not yet announced a replacement for Pandya.
