Alyssa Healy's ODI Farewell Century Powers Australia to 3-0 Series Sweep Over India

Alyssa Healy closed her ODI career in spectacular fashion, scoring a magnificent 158 to guide Australia to a commanding 185-run victory over world champions India in the third and final match on Sunday. The win secured a comprehensive 3-0 series sweep for the Australian women's cricket team.

Record-Breaking Partnership Sets Up Dominant Victory

The 35-year-old captain combined with Beth Mooney, who remained unbeaten on 106, to power Australia to an imposing total of 409 for seven. This formidable partnership laid the foundation for Australia's dominance throughout the match.

India, in response, were bowled out for 224 in 45.1 overs, unable to match the Australian batting prowess on the day.

Healy's Emotional Farewell and Reflections

Named Player of the Match, Healy reflected on her final ODI during the presentation ceremony with mixed emotions. "I just think what a ridiculous sport we play that it can kick you down so many times and then give you opportunities like it has today," she said.

"I've hated every milestone match, so today was just an opportunity to go out and enjoy it. And it was one of the more enjoyable experiences I've had. So thanks to the cricket gods for that. And yeah, that's a nice way to sign off in the yellow."

Healy also bowled two overs for 12 runs in her last ODI appearance. She will retire from international cricket after the upcoming one-off pink-ball Test against India in Perth starting March 6.

Looking Ahead to Test Cricket and Team Future

When asked whether batting or bowling gave her more satisfaction, Healy responded with characteristic humor: "Oh, bowling for sure. It didn't take much to get talked into either."

She expressed particular pride in presenting the cap to debutant Lucy Hamilton. "I was honestly fine this morning and then when I was writing it all down and realizing probably what it means to debut and get that cap made me realize how special and how lucky I've been over the last 15 years," Healy shared.

Looking ahead to the Test match, Healy noted: "Pink ball at the WACA, we've never experienced that before. The WACA wicket has done some interesting things for us in Test cricket and white-ball cricket over the last few years. But any time this group gets to wear the baggy green is extra special."

Mooney's Brilliance and Team Prospects

Healy praised her teammate Beth Mooney's outstanding performance and expressed confidence in the team's future. "Beth Mooney's been outstanding. The future's bright for our team. I'm looking forward to watching them go about their business over the next couple of years leading into that next one day World Cup. I think they're going to do some fantastic things yet again."

India's Captain Reflects on Series Performance

India captain Harmanpreet Kaur acknowledged her team's shortcomings in the ODI series. "Overall we didn't play good cricket. In T20, we were doing all the things right and in ODI, we didn't play good cricket. That is something which cost us," she admitted.

"It's a long game and you have to keep doing the right things again and again. I think we kept making too many mistakes. And credit goes to the Australian team also, they really played good cricket and they didn't give us a chance to bounce back."

Regarding the upcoming Test match, Kaur emphasized the importance of mental preparation. "A lot of learnings for us and definitely we will go back and think how we have to go about in the ODI cricket. Keeping everybody in good space of mind, I think that is something which is very important."

The series concludes with Australia demonstrating complete dominance, while India will look to regroup ahead of the historic pink-ball Test in Perth.
