Himachal CM Sukhu Inaugurates Sports Stadium in Shimla

Shimla: Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Monday inaugurated a multipurpose sports stadium built at a cost of Rs 3.18 crore at Sanjauli in Shimla. The facility includes an open sports ground, a hall, an open hall, a kitchen, and other essential amenities aimed at promoting sports activities in the region.

Chitta Awareness Volleyball Tournament

Sukhu also inaugurated Himachal Pradesh's first Chitta Awareness Volleyball Tournament, organized as part of the International Summer Festival in Shimla. He unveiled the tournament's running trophy and announced a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh for the winning team. A total of 13 teams from across the state are participating in the event.

During the program, Sukhu took the salute of the march-past by participating teams and administered an anti-drug pledge to players. He announced Rs 1 crore for the further development of the Sanjauli ground, along with the establishment of a primary health center and the upgradation of the Sanjauli Holi Fair to district-level status.

Sukhu said efforts are underway to host Khelo India competitions in Himachal. He added that prize money for international medal winners had been enhanced and a new policy to reward national-level sportspersons would be introduced soon.

MLA Harish Janartha welcomed the initiatives, stating that improved sports infrastructure would encourage youth participation in sports and help steer them away from drug abuse.
