Ranchi: Indian cricket team’s left-handed batsman and local star Ishan Kishan made a brief visit to Ranchi on Thursday amid the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season to unveil the trophy for the upcoming Jharkhand T20 league, which is expected to commence next month.
Kishan’s Excitement for the League
Speaking to the media prior to the unveiling, Kishan expressed his joy and anticipation. “I am so glad that my home association is finally coming up with such a prestigious platform for homegrown players. If I am available, I am also excited to play in this league. It was a much-needed platform for local talents here, and I am sure that it will pave the way for more talents to make it to the IPL and the Indian team in the future,” he said.
JSCA’s Partnership and Plans
Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) president Ajay Nath Shahdeo announced that the association has tied up with SJ Uplift to develop Jharkhand’s own T20 cricket league. “It will be a completely professional league themed on the IPL format. Our association with SJ Uplift will be for a period of seven years, kickstarting the first season with six franchises. Many big firms have already started showing interest to bid for the teams and players,” he said, adding that the league will be scaled further gradually.
Format and Player Auction
JSCA secretary and former India player Saurabh Tiwary stated that while the detailed format will be released in the coming days, all top players from the state who have at least played at the Under-19 level will be up for auction.
