A growing demand for the establishment of an Employees' State Insurance (ESI) Hospital in Hosapete, Karnataka, has gained traction. A delegation from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), led by Ashwin Kothambari, met with Member of Parliament E Tukaram on Tuesday to submit a formal memorandum urging the creation of the healthcare facility.
Delegation Submits Memorandum
The delegation emphasized the urgent need for an ESI Hospital in Hosapete, citing the lack of adequate medical facilities for workers and their families in the region. The memorandum highlighted that the industrial area in and around Hosapete has a significant number of employees covered under the ESI scheme, yet they have to travel long distances to access medical care.
Key Demands Raised
Ashwin Kothambari, leading the delegation, stressed that the establishment of an ESI Hospital would not only provide essential healthcare services but also reduce the financial burden on workers. The memorandum requested the MP to take up the matter with the central government and ensure early approval for the project.
MP E Tukaram assured the delegation that he would raise the issue in Parliament and follow up with the Ministry of Labour and Employment. He acknowledged the growing industrial activity in Hosapete and the corresponding need for better healthcare infrastructure.
Community Support
Local trade unions and worker associations have also voiced their support for the demand. They believe that an ESI Hospital would significantly improve the quality of life for thousands of families in the region. The delegation's efforts have been widely appreciated by the community, with many hoping for a positive outcome soon.
Next Steps
The CCI plans to continue its advocacy by engaging with other elected representatives and government officials. They are also considering organizing public awareness campaigns to build further momentum for the cause. The demand for an ESI Hospital in Hosapete is expected to remain a key issue in the coming months.
